Aniko is a design and decor enthusiast with incredible style and a popular DIY blog. She’s also a talented photographer who shares behind-the-scenes footage of their family’s travel adventures on Instagram, including lifestyle tips for living in a home on wheels.

Today we’re taking a step inside their first RV, a 2017 Forest River Vibe, which they renovated in less than three weeks! The interior of this family-friendly camper is boho-eclectic and includes creative DIY projects, such as the bamboo roller shades made from reed fencing and the hand-painted mountain mural in the bunk room.

(You can see photos of their new RV set-up, which is equally beautiful and creative, by visiting the links at the bottom of this post.)

Before Photos

Tell us a little about yourself and who you share your RV with.

I am a mother, wife, and home decor enthusiast. I have been DIYing and blogging everything home decor for the last decade. We are a family of four with two furry friends and we have been traveling full-time since October 2020. We planned to travel for 3-4 months only but we never stopped. We will celebrate our 2 yrs Nomadaversary in October. We traveled the first year in our 36′ Forest River Vibe – which I am sharing details about here.

What inspired you to experience #RVlife?

We always wanted to get on the road and travel with our boys, but when the Pandemic hit we really felt the itch to take off, do virtual school for the boys and start making incredible memories.

What’s your favorite aspect of interior design?

My design style is forever evolving, and I enjoy the process.

Did you draw inspiration for this remodel from anything or anyone specific?

I used most decor stuff from our old house. I wanted to stay on the budget but I also wanted create a home we love. We loved our colorful home, and we wanted to keep the same cozy and inviting feel in the camper.

What are your favorite places to source products and decor?

Amazon, Home Goods, Thrift stores

What project made the most difference?

Paint can go a long way. Painting the walls and the kitchen cabinets was an instant, and dramatic change.

What was most challenging about your family-friendly camper renovation?

The painting process. We decided to spray paint the camper, which required sanding and taping a LOT. Like a whole LOT! But it was worth every second of hard work and sweat in the end.

What’s your favorite splurge-worthy item that was incorporated into the interior?

A comfy and stylish leather couch.

What do you love most about your RV?

The large, spacious bunk room for the boys. I love that they have their own space; it is not just a bunkbed space but also a fun study corner/playroom.

What has been your favorite place to explore?

Oh my — I have way too many. But one of my favorite spots was Alabama Hill, CA. I would go back there anytime.

Most asked about product sources:

I have a post written up on my blog, and the post links to all DIY projects we tackled in the camper. See it HERE. Or shop our Amazon Page.

“Go try RV Living if your circumstances allow it. We are making incredible memories, meeting so many amazing people, and making lifelong friendships on the road.”

What piece of advice would you give someone about to start an RV renovation?

Just do it! It does make a big difference when you get back to your #homeonwheels, and it feels like home.
