about this RV renovation
Type of RV: 2008 Forest River Flagstaff
Renovated by: @southsidecamper / Timeline: 3 Months
Matt and Adien are RV flippers based out of Virginia that enjoy transforming dated campers into modern tiny homes. Today we’re taking a peek inside a renovated Forest River fifth wheel they sold earlier this year.
The interior of this renovated fifth wheel is full of beautiful DIY projects, including the custom entertainment cabinet they built to replace the microwave area, and the stenciled wall in the bathroom.

What inspired you to renovate RV’s?
One day we stumbled on one of the biggest RV renovator’s instagram page, and we got hooked. We didn’t even know that there was such a thing as RV renovation. So this amazing community inspired us to be part of it, and we thought with my vision and Matt’s extraordinary craftsmanship, we can also share some things to the community that we love so much!
What made you choose this specific RV to renovate?
It was in very good condition, the layout, and the possibilities of what we could do with it!
Was this 5th wheel renovation inspired by anything specific?
Not anyone specific, but we always try to pay attention and be aware of what’s trending in interior design and what people might like. For example, what color palette is in for this year, what style of decor and furniture people are into, even trending pillow patterns!
How would you describe your decorating style?
Bright, homey, and modern.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT OF INTERIOR DESIGN?
Not anyone specific, but we always try to pay attention and be aware of what’s trending in interior design and what people might like. For example, what color palette is in for this year, what style of decor and furniture people are into, even trending pillow patterns!
WHAT WAS MOST CHALLENGING ABOUT THIS RENOVATION?
The most challenging was designing and building the entertainment center. We want to make sure that it looks like it belongs there and to be a seamless product when it’s finished.
WHAT PROJECT MADE THE MOST DIFFERENCE?
Brightening it up with white paint to let more light in probably made the most difference. It was a simple thing to do, but makes the biggest impact.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PIECE OF DECOR OR SPLURGE-WORTHY ITEM THAT WAS INCORPORATED INTO THE INTERIOR?
We really love how the entertainment center turned out. Also, the chandelier.
What piece of advice would you give someone about to begin an RV renovation?
We would say research, research and research. We spent 5 months researching about RV renovation before we actually got out there to find one to renovate. But with the fast- growing RV community that helps each other during the process, it made me believe that anyone can renovate a camper.
