about this RV renovation
Type of RV: Holiday Rambler Presidential Suite 5th Wheel
Renovated by: @cleverfoxmama / Budget: $3,000 / Timeline: 2 Months
After deciding to trade things for time with their family, Crystal and Paul sold everything they had and moved into a 5th wheel with their 2 young kids, Malachi and Isabella.
Their goal is to achieve simplicity and get debt-free while still being able to live life, travel and have fun!
Crystal’s love for both the beach and the desert have influenced her style, which is easy to see in this renovated 5th wheel tour. It’s bright, it’s airy, it’s sprinkled with boho, and it has cozy cottage vibes going on. It’s definitely come a long way from the outdated wood paneling and wallpaper typical of most 5th wheel interiors.

How would you describe your decorating style?
My decorating style… wow… let’s see… It’s a bit hard to describe, but if I had to define it in a few words I would say… Boho, chic, airy, but cozy! Almost like a beachy-desert vibe (which is why I created an Instagram for design only @cactusandwaves)! I wanted our space to feel like a mini vacation with a resort feel, but still home-y.
How much did you spend on the renovation?
Wow good question… I haven’t really sat down to think about this one… since we kinda did a little here and there. We also had a few things already so I’ll only count what we actually spent. I would estimate with paint, new furniture, flooring, fixtures, etc. a total of: $3k (We still have some minor projects, but nothing crazy).
How long did the renovation take?
We actually moved in mid-renovation and took our time (because if you have kids you know… #momlife lol). We still have some projects to finish, but the majority of our projects (painting, furnishing, etc.) only took us about 2 months total.
What was most challenging about your renovation?
The most challenging part was living in a construction zone with two little ones while trying to renovate lol.

What do you enjoy most about your spacE?
We enjoy the simplicity of it. I love how easy it is to clean. Life is just easier now.
Where’s your favorite place to shop for décor?
I love supporting small shops on IG, Homegoods is my favorite, Target and every so often awesome thrift shops!
What has been your favorite place to explore so far during your journey?
We are total beach bums… anything with water is our favorite! We have a few trips planned this summer and can’t wait!
What is your favorite project?
Paul and I had a blast putting up our removable backsplash from shopbdarling. It was the easiest project we’ve done in the RV beside putting up curtains lol. It instantly transformed the entire RV since the kitchen is the heart of the home.

What piece of advice would you give someone about to begin an RV renovation?
Best advice I can give is have a plan! Staying organized is KEY! We were so excited to start and lost so many pieces to things we had to buy them again lol.
